PocketWeb Installation Tips =========================== for Macintosh and PCs (required for the browser itself): ------------------------------------------------------ /pub/newton/pocketweb/ pw-19.sit.hqx PocketWeb v1.9 package for the Newton OS 1.3 pw-19.zip pw-20f.sit.hqx PocketWeb v2.0 package for the Newton OS 2.0 pw-20f.zip Monaco.pkg.hqx Monospaced font package Before installing the packages you have to dehqx or unzip the selected software (e.g. with Stuffit Expander). In this directory you find the WWW-Browser PocketWeb Version 2.0 (OS 2.0) and 1.9 (OS 1.3) for the Newton MessagePad. You have to download the preferred version with your Newton Package Installer. For using PocketWeb you have to install the Monaco font additionally. subclient for UNIX and Macintosh: -------------------------------------------------- /pub/newton/pocketweb/ pw-sc-mac.hqx Binaries of the Subclient for Apple Macintosh pw-sc-unix.gz Source Code of the subclient for Unix-systems pw-sc-dec.gz Binaries of the subclient for DEC-Unix (OSF1) In this directory you find the subclient, which is required to communicate between the Newton and the Internet. There are two binary versions: pw-sc-mac.hqx for Macintosh and pw-sc-dec.gz for UNIX-OSF. Additionally there is also the sourcecode of the subclient in pw-sc-unix.gz. If you are willing to port the subclient to any other UNIX-based platform, then you can use and modify this source code. If you have ported the subclient to another platform you must send the binaries us.
