Infos about PocketWeb: ---------------------- Before installing PocketWeb for Newton you should read the INSTALL file in the same directory as this file. This README file explains how to setup and use PocketWeb for the Newton. It is no explanation of the Newton itself. Please refer with problems with your Newton to your handbooks. First of all you have to install the subclient on the host you want to connect with your Newton. After connecting via serial or modem you have the functionality of a Web-Browser on your Newton. Here is a short explanation of PocketWeb for Newton: Newton setup: ------------- Before you can start using PocketWeb with modem connection you should configure the right kind of modem, which is connected to your Newton. Do this with the Newton config-tool by selecting the item Modem and choosing the correct modem type. PocketWeb Menu -------------- File -About: About box of PocketWeb -Open URL: opens the specified URL -Copy to Notepad: copies the whole content of the current web page to the notepad Navigate -Back: shows last page -Next: shows the already seen page after a back trace (new load is required) -Home: shows the specified home page -Find: searches for text in the current page -Hotlist: lists and manages the hotlist entries -Add this...: adds the current URL to the hotlist Options -hide/show URLs: hides/shows the URL on the display -hide/show status: hides/shows the status on the display -Fonts: here you can specify the font size for the content -Preferences: here you can setup PocketWeb (explained below) Preferences: In the preferences menu you can setup many things like the home location, the kind of connection, phone number and the used login script. The login script is nothing mysterious, you only have to write the expected dialog with the Newton and the local host after dialing in. In the left column you write what you expect from your host, in the right column you enter the answer the Newton should give. An example: Wait for... Send... ----------- ------- login: newton password: pocket_www When you're having a direct serial connection there's no need for a login script and the checkbox Login Script must be left blank. Display items: -------------- URL field: You can click on the URL-field to enter an URL directly and it is recommended to do this via the builtin keyboard. status field: In this field you see information about the current status of PocketWeb. When dialing in with modem to your local host the status infos should behave like this: dialing login connect starting login script request send - waiting for data ... If the execution differs it could be that an error occured while logging in. Then you have to try it again. hand button: Interrupts the current request. scissors buttons: Closes the current connection to your host. Pictures: --------- You can download pictures on demand. You have to click on the image-tag to get the picture, but it is not possible to have more than one picture on the display.
