HP's E-Victor Procurement Portal. I am technical lead in a collaborative project with the service center at Hewlett-Packard. In the Project "VICTOR", we are investigating component-based web engineering (CBWE) for large-scale Web Sites. The WebComposition-approach has been used for over three years to evolve the world-wide E-Victor Procurement Portal. Using WebComposition's component-technology (WCML) and other component-tecchnologies, I try to apply my ideas for Development and Evolution of Web Sites. For further information on the Victor Project, click here.

Teaching: Web Engineering. Students who are interested in Web Engineering, please select:
+ Web Engineering in TecO´s Praktikum (LV-Nummer 24876)
+ Thesis-Projects: Diplomarbeiten/ Studienarbeiten (in German).

If you want to present your Thesis results at the TecO Seminar. Please contact me directly to make an appointment. For further information on presenting your work or about the seminar schedule, please feel free to visit the TecO Seminar homepage.

There is a list of my publications Web Engineering. My Research interest is in application of software engineering practice to applications in the WWW (Web Engineering or WebE), and specifically in component-based software engineering, reuse, frameworks, reflection, software architectures, patterns and software evolution for Web-Applications.
Further, I investigate Knowledge Management Systems and User-Profiling techniques, particularly in E-Commerce and Web Information Systems.

WebComposition Approach. This approach defines a disciplined procedure of composing Web-applications with components. It is a synthesis of a dedicated component-technology, reuse management, a dedicated Web-Application framework, and a component-oriented process model.
I began the WebComposition Markup Language (WCML) project in 1997. WCML describes an XML vocabulary for the WebComposition approach that allows definition of (Web-) components, properties, and relationships between these components. The WCML provides a generic mechanism facilitating compositional reuse. Distributed Components (nested in Virtual Component Stores) can be used to design and implement a Web-Application. The components may e.g. model high-level design concepts, like design pattern or OOHDM classes. For more information on my research, click here.
You can read more about our work on the WebComposition Reuse-Repository project in a position paper presented at the Web Engineering workshop at WWW8. Further Information about the Evolutionbus Framework and the WebComposition Process Model is available via publications.

Evolutionbus. The evolutionsbus framework is part of the WebComposition approach. We are currently investigating the use of the Evolutionbus Infrastructure Server to develop highly-distributed Web-Applications, like federated Portals and Marketplaces, as well as service delivery based on different business scenarios.

Applications for Mobile Devices. If I am not too busy, I explore distributed applications for handheld devices / mobile devices. Some results can be found here.

I have given technical training for or consulted to clients of the Microsoft Internet Call Center (ICC) and Microsoft Academic Internet Center (now MIB), including:
- Bundesarbeitskreis Netze in Schulen
- Badenia Bausparkasse AG
- Burda Systems
- Siemens Nixdorf Informationssysteme

Some things I have worked on in the past include the port of an object-oriented language called TNO for Windows 3.11 and several tools for the Web. I was involved in the development of an architecture for mobile computing and the APIs for our MODBC-Driver (an ODBC-Driver supporting mobility).
