Applications
There a lot of applications that are now running local at the mobile phone. Some examples are the address book and the schedule.
Context: As discribed above, you can imagin an application that allows you to exchange context information. A possibiltiy to implement this is a traffic ligth that is displayed at the mobile phone. If, for example, the receiver is in the meeting, he can set his context to red (do not disturb). If a friend will call the reveiver because of a tennis match, he will get the information and will decide not to call. But if a colleague will give him the important information that he took the wrong papers to the meeting, he will also get the information "do not disturb" but he will call him because of the importance of the information.
Address book: Normally if you have got an address book on your mobile phone, you will also have one on your PC at work and one on your PC at home. This means that there are a lot of address books that all have to be updated everytime when there is a new entry or a change of an existing entry at one of the address books. This is a lot of work and also it is difficult to have an overview to all your address books. Because of this situation you can imagin why going another way: having only one address book in the internet with a special web-based interface to make changes and use all your "clients" in order to "download" the address book. For example you can use your mobile phone to get the address book using WAP or you can use a normal web browser to get your address book at your PC at work.
